President Anastasiades, please support entrepreneurs in Cyprus.

So the EU has approved the first allotment of €100million from their budget for fighting unemployment in Cyprus. This is great news! Due to our dedication to supporting entrepreneurs, we figured we’d remind the decision-makers why some of this funding should go towards supporting the island’s entrepreneurs.

It’s also Global Entrepreneurship Week, something we support in the markets around us. As we launched in Cyprus, we will continue to support the entrepreneurs on the island. We haven’t forgotten about you, neither should the individuals deciding where the funds shall go.

Some Clarifications Before We Continue
We truly believe that freelancers, consultants and almost all* types of solo-businesses count as entrepreneurs.

* Get-rich-schemes don’t fall into this category, neither does sending money to help get a kabajilion dollars out of a remote nation. We’re not sorry.

Some Reasons Why Entrepreneurs Should be Supported off the top of our heads:

  • Entrepreneurs create jobs.

What entrepreneurs understand is that they need support networks, and that leads to growth in surrounding sectors. From food to alcohol, to office supplies and professional services, the faster entrepreneurs grow… the more they build ecosystems around them.

  • Entrepreneurs don’t do 9-5 (or 9-1).

In all our time as an entrepreneur, or working with other entrepreneurs, we’ve never witnessed the phenomenon of being able to just get up and walk away because your clock told you to.

  • Entrepreneurs foster local ecosystems.

All entrepreneurs love learning, networking and growing their product/service reach. This leads to more events, talks, coffees, beers and collaboration. These give back to the local ecosystem and provide inspiration and motivation to the next generation of entrepreneurs.

  • Entrepreneurs are always pushing for growth.

Entrepreneurs by nature always want bigger, stronger and faster. This drive is what each government should be investing heavily in, and some are, why shouldn’t Cyprus be one of them?

  • Entrepreneurs know they have to spend money to make money.

No matter what method of business development and planning is being used, be it lean or lets-see-where-this-goes, most entrepreneurs know that they must spend intelligently to keep growth a first priority.

Agree with us?
Each of us know at least 1 person working their ass off to build a company/business/product or service. Isn’t it time to help them get the support they need?
