If you’re in Cyprus now, you’re most probably surrounded by quite a few sources of negativity. Be it the news, the economy or your current financial situation, we all know that there’s a lot to be worried about this time of the year.

But that shouldn’t stop you, and it probably hasn’t. Not inside your own head anyways- deep down, where noone can tell you how crazy your ideas are, or what will or won’t work.

Whilst running the live-blog for Startup Weekend Manchester I couldn’t help but jot down exactly why every single one of you should be attending Startup Weekend Cyprus.

If you fall into any of these categories:

• You have an idea

  No matter how strange, fascinating, viable or plausible your idea is, you get to pitch it to people who are there to build something awesome together over the weekend.

  Nothing validates your idea more than people saying “omg! that’s awesome let’s build it together“.
  

• You like building things

  Whether it’s technology, software, hardware, processes, businesses, connections or surveys.

  You’ll be able to pick and join the process of building something awesome over 54 hours.
  

• You feel ‘stuck’ at work

  Some people find themselves in the scenario of hating Mondays and living for Friday each week.

  There’s nothing like taking 3 days off and working on something new, to reboot your work drive.
  

• You’re unemployed

  It’s a hard time to be unemployed in Cyprus, but you know what helps?

  Seeing, and being part of, people building something new restores confidence in yourself and the people you will meet will do wonders for you personal network.
  

But even if you don’t fall into those last four categories, you should get involved as it really opened my eyes, left me inspired and I met people and had some interesting discussions about the industries around, parallel or perpendicular to mine.

So, I think I’ve clarified why you should all be grabbing your tickets to go.
