💥 First-ever Coworking Alliance Summit goes global.
We’re delighted to see coworking alliances from across the globe have signed up to join the first-ever Coworking Alliance Summit on Tuesday the 27th of April 2021.
The 3-hour participatory event will not feature any keynotes, but instead host coworking and workshop sessions on actively tackling the challenges and opportunities facing national, regional and global coworking alliances alike.

🚨 Belarusian coworking space shut down by ruling regime.
Mike Butcher shares the scary story about how Minsk’s key startup hub, event and coworking space has effectively been shut down by the regime after visits from unnamed masked intruders and the sudden cancellation of their lease.
The story also features a video from Tania Marinich, the founder of the Imaguru hub, who shares that they will continue to support their members and local communities virtually.
🏅 Crypto currencies & workspace transactions.
WeWork announced that they’d accept (and pay landlords) in Bitcoin, Ethereum, USD Coin, Paxos and other cryptocurrencies.
Whilst its certainly not the first coworking or flexible workspace to accept cryptocurrencies for desks, it will be interesting to see how the fluctuations will affect the balance sheets of this now public company, since they’ve noted that they would not be converting payments to fiat currency.
👩🌾 Non-city coworking get the nod in Boston Globe piece.
Rebecca M. Knight shares with readers of the Boston Globe why ‘coworking spaces aren’t just for cities anymore’, and introduces us to the term “neighborhood office buildings” coined by Thomas Malone a professor at MIT Sloan School of Management.

📦 22% US employees looking to move 50+ miles from core offices.
PwC released their Workforce Pulse Survey results, in which they surveyed 1,515 US employees to find out what’s next for America’s workforce post-pandemic.
One of the their three key takeaways caught my attention, as it shared that almost a quarter of employees were considering or planning to move more than 50 miles from their current HQ/core offices. This is ontop of the 12% who have already made such a move since the pandemic began.

💰 Firm raises $1.2M to run create and run whitelabel flex spaces.
Wilco Wijnbergen shared that infinitSpace, the company he co-founded with his brother and former WeWork exec, has raised $1.2m in funding.
They aim to combine operation experience, software and services to create and run flexible workspaces under their clients’ brands.

📱 Global CRE firm launches new service & platform for hybrid teams.
JLL announced in a press release that they’ve just launched a new tech & services offering called Experience / Anywhere.
The platform enables employers to manage the hybrid employee experience and makes up of 3 elements: a program management system, a hub for employee engagement (and perks), and ergonomics programs to improve employees workstations. The new offering also integrates with JLL JET, the firm’s hybrid workspace app.
📲 PAYG workspace booking app launches on iOS and Android.
Excited to see that Sarah Sneddon shared that the Coworking Nomads app has been launched on both iPhones and for Android-powered phones (you seeing this Clubhouse?). The differentiator for this app is that app users can pay for the time they use, paying only when they check-out of the space.
🤝 Corp-coworking app signs up new multi-country provider.
Michael Cockburn shared that Desana has signed up The Office Group for their corporate booking app, making 50 new locations available to users of their app in both the UK and Germany.
