In a great big reveal via Facebook live video, Claire Carpenter shared that The Melting Pot (who closed their doors in March) would be reopening at a new location, with new partners.

🌏 Japanese telecoms co. grabs workspace access for 300k staff.
Nippon Telegraph & Telephone group have signed a deal with IWG to get 300,000 global employees access to any of the networks’ spaces.
This is part of a burning hot trend, with stories covering new multi-national brands signing deals to give members access to spaces nearby. What’s interesting is the split between who is picking to go with wholly owned networks, and who is opting for networks including independent operators often in suburban or smaller urban hubs.
📈 29% of landlords surveyed would like their own flex workspace brand.
Steven Lang of Savills shared the results of their survey of landlords who were collectively holding 4,000+ properties in late 2020.
It’s notable that 75% of landlords expected tenants to ask for more flex terms. It’s also expected that all larger buildings will have a flex offering as a standard, and that most spaces would be via partnerships under management agreements.
However it is noted that over the next few years landlords are expected to begin building their own flex brands.
💪 Local council announces affordable workspace partnership.
Islington Council has announced a partnership with City, University of London to create ‘Better Space‘ a more inclusive local economy as part of their ground-breaking Affordable Workspace Strategy.
Spaces in the 6,000 sqft hub will be made available at below market rents in the prime location that also hosts LinkedIn’s UK HQ.
😮 59% of office-less business say they won’t look for any in 2021.
Clutch, a B2B research firm, shared that more than half of small businesses without offices were not planning to acquire or lease any real estate in 2021 citing financial benefits and improved employee satisfaction.
What’s interesting is that they also state that just 1 in 10 (ie 10%) of the 500 small businesses surveyed have contracts with coworking spaces. Talk about a huge opportunity.
